About Buryatia
The Republic of Buryatia, situated in Siberia, Russia, adjacent to Mongolia, is renowned for its magnificent Lake Baikal. This region is a treasure trove of cultural convergence, blending diverse cultural elements from nomadic tribes, Mongolia, Slavic, and Russian cultures, giving rise to the unique Buryatian culture. In this land, you can simultaneously experience the presence of Shamanism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Eastern Orthodoxy, showcasing a multifaceted and rich cultural landscape.
The official languages in the region are Russian and Buryat, but the majority of Buryats now speak Russian as their mother tongue, with the younger generation largely not proficient in Buryat, reflecting the profound influence of Soviet culture here. Buryatia can be divided into two regions, Western Buryatia and Eastern Buryatia, with Western Buryatia being more influenced by European culture. This diversity makes the region even more captivating.
ABOUT BURYATIAN BUUZ & BUHLEOR

“After taking a bite, you should first sip the soup that flows out of the meat bun and then eat it. During the weekends, my family and I often make a bunch of Buuz, freeze them, and slowly enjoy them. We prefer making our own instead of buying them outside because they taste better!”
As Chef Chingis skillfully kneaded the dough, he shared his memories from his time in Buryatia.
“Beef and potato noodles are very simple; we don’t add too much, just whatever is available. We usually use potatoes, but the noodles must be made fresh. I really miss the taste of those freshly made noodles.”
Buryatian Buuz is a unique variation of dumplings, different from the typical dumplings. Buuz has a filling made entirely of meat and is filled with rich broth. This dish shares some connection with Mongolian cuisine, Georgian Khinkali, and Turkish Mantı but has its own distinct flavor and characteristics.
Furthermore, Buryatia’s national soup, Buhleor, known for its hearty ingredients of beef and potatoes, is famous for being easily cooked even in the great outdoors, over a campfire!

In our hands-on experience events, the focus is on “interacting with local people or instructors” and creating a warm atmosphere of “preparing the table together.”
It’s similar to preparing a dinner with locals in their homes, where each person has different tasks, but we “do not specifically emphasize learning cooking skills.”
This is different from a professional cooking class, which places more emphasis on teaching the techniques of cooking. If you are interested in learning how to cook international cuisine, we have other cooking classes available for you to choose from, or you can always contact us anytime!”

The experiential cooking activity focuses primarily on providing participants with an immersive experience of local culture and the taste of unique international cuisines. Therefore, please understand that the venue does not have a professional kitchen like in a culinary course.
Our event primarily aims to introduce participants to rare or exotic cuisines that are seldom tasted in Taiwan. Due to the higher cost of ingredients required for these exotic dishes, we will serve appropriate portions to ensure a full experience of these unique cuisines. However,we cannot guarantee that every participant will be fully satiated, please understand this. We hope you enjoy this unique culinary experience.
This is not a restaurant, nor is it a professional cooking class. Instead, it is a unique experience that invites you into a foreigner's home to cook and enjoy food together. We will warmly welcome you as a guest in our home, just like the locals do, rather than providing traditional restaurant services. Therefore, please understand that we cannot offer restaurant-style service on site.
Who is suitable to participate in this workshop?
- Those who enjoy international cuisine and culture
- Those who are interested in international cooking
- Anyone can join, even without any cooking experience
- Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent (please select the family ticket).
